This gemstone's fascinating name has an intriguing origin. In the 18th century, a jewelry maker's accidental addition of metal filings into melting glass resulted in a beautiful, iridescent material. This "accidental" sparkling glass was used to craft jewelry, later receiving the name Aventurine.
